One USAT Coach to Another

16-Feb-2007

Hi everyone,

I am currently looking to buy a computrainer, but would like to
hear what & how other coaches use their computrainers to help their
athletes. Do you find them invaluable? Are they over rated? Your
thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The CT is invaluable and absolutely the best tool you can spend your money on, bar none. I am currently writing an article on usage of the CT. This winter has been a snowy one in CO. I was restricted to my CT Ė 4x per week Ė with my longest ride at 2 hours. I donít normally ride over 75-90 minutes and on top of that, I havenít ridden outside since October. Last week I went to CA and rode for 5 hours and 9500 feet of climbing without issue. The next day I rode 3 hours and followed that up with two more days of long riding. My legs were fine with the exception of some fatigue.
Like my former coach Rick Niles says: Itís not how much you train, but HOW you train.

The CT is a difference maker for me and my athletes, as long as you know how to use it correctly.
